Oh, man, too much cancer. I have a number of people in my extended life now who are struggling themselves with, or who have close relatives who are struggling with, that scourge of the post-industrial world. One is a seven year old boy. It’s mostly metastasized cancers and brain tumors.
It’s a disease of the immune system. A way for the poisoned earth, of which we are a part, to cry out in pain. A wild growth: weeds of the body. All of us have cancer within us, every day. For many of us, our robust (or at least functioning) immune systems pull out the weeds as a matter of daily maintenance. But for some, the maintenance either doesn’t take place, or doesn’t keep pace, with the wild weeds.
Praying for these people is part of my vocation. Healing, if possible, too. But healing is not of necessity curing. Coming to terms with our mortality, with limitations, with narrowing, is part of human existence…..
For those of us standing at the sidelines, who’d rather have the disease ourselves than watch our beloved ones suffer, it is one of the hardest lessons of our incarnation: we can’t save them. We can’t take their journey: we can only take our own. To be supportive, to allow them to be where they are, rather than where we think they should be; to be kind. Holding hands, sitting by the bedside, breathing-with. Loving, really, as gently and as thoroughly as we can.
As the rain drips gently down outside, so too my thoughts are with those who have this disease, and those who are at the bedside. Please know that even if we don’t know each other, I stand with you: whether in the disease, or standing with someone who has it. As a healer, as a psychic, I am with you.

where have I been??
Monday, February 16, 2009Whoa. (And other inarticulate expressions of deep surprise)
I took a part-time job (I'm training to be the assistant buyer at our local nutritional supplement store) and it's really eaten up all of my time. I'm either working, recovering from working, or taking care of my daughter and my husband. The house is an utter mess, and my friends (including my only sister) are sorely neglected.
As is this blog. I'll have a fuller post up by Sunday.
In the meantime:
Energetically, this is a time to continue to refine your dreams(s). What do you really want? No, I mean really, deep down in the core of your soul, what do you dream of? Things continue to shift rapidly, and this is an excellent occasion for you to get completely clear on what you want.
Release what doesn't serve your highest/deepest purpose. Let go of all the old stuff -- psychological, spiritual, physical, emotional -- that doesn't represent who you are now and who you would like to evolve into.
This life is yours. No rehearsal, this is the real thing. You have lots of support. You are loved.
Be well, my dears, and I'll be back by Sunday.

shifting....
Friday, January 30, 2009Something else is going on. I feel a strong energy shift coming: I wish I could be clearer; what I'm hearing is "crunchy. " Lots to chew on, lots to do, and a strong positive angle. It's going to be a tough hike on a 40-degree angle, with sunshine at the top and lots of good energy to use. Get busy on clarifying your dream, and be willing to work very hard.
Clear as mud? Yeah, to me too.

Energy Alert
Saturday, January 24, 2009A big wave of positive energy is available to us on the New Moon; this time, it's going to be especially powerful. Know that there is more good energy available to you than usually, and act accordingly. Surf it how you like:
Open your heart, and breathe it in.
Go dance outside in the darkness.
Take a long bath, and rejoice that you're made up of so much water.
Take it in, feel it in your cells; it brings a deep possibility for more happiness than you're used to.
The Moon turns late Sunday and ends on 12:14pm on Tuesday.

Tattoos, the beginning
Friday, January 23, 2009Why am I so fascinated with tattoos? Slowly, over the course of the past twenty years, this ancient form of body modification has moved from the edge of American culture to the center. Many, many people have one or more; and a significant subset have multiples. So it's popular; and it's vivid. I can't stop looking at them.
I'm pain-averse, and the thought of that many needle punctures over a portion of my skin gives me the willies. I came close this summer, but decided against it. I am still so fascinated, however, that I may have to get one, just for research.
I don't have the qualifications to delineate the history of this permanent form of decoration. But I can say this: it is old in human culture, going back at least to ancient Egypt, over 4 thousand years ago.
An on-line acquaintance of mine pointed out that people who get tattoos are usually people who want to have attention paid to them. I think this is true, but I know at least one person who got one who is more attention-averse than anything.
It is about decorating the self; and it's about tribal bonding. It's a marker that a person belongs, whether to a subculture, or to a particular group, and sometimes to another person. Of course, the problem with the love tattoo is it's permanence. A famous example of this in contemporary celebrity culture is Johnny Depp, whose "Winona Forever" became obsolete after their relationship ended; the tattoo became "Wino Forever."
From an energetic perspective, it's very curious. People with tattoos can have issues with the area being tattooed; it's certain that it changes the flow of energy over and around the marking. The placement of multiples can create a conjunction that points directly to a chakra: one musician I'm familiar with has two at his heart, one on a wrist, and one on the underside of the upper arm. With his arms raised, these form a direct line to the heart. Another had a series up one arm: pointing to the throat. It may be unconscious, but it's not a coincidence.

now.....
Saturday, January 17, 2009For those of us who live in the Washington area, this excitement feels like it's breatheable. In my lungs, in my bubbling blood: the Inauguration is coming. Tuesday!! I will be there, dressed in many layers of clothes, representing myself (and all of you who want to tag along energetically), rejoicing in new possibilities, waving madly at the Jumbotron, bouncing up and down (not easy to do in hiking boots).
I'll be back posting regularly next week. I'll unveil the new design that last weekend of January. And I promise to post at least twice a week for the foreseeable future.
Until January 22nd, then: be well, be happy, be safe, and know that you are loved.

Magic Time
Sunday, January 11, 2009Hello all,
This Full Moon is one of the most powerful of the year. From now until early Tuesday morning, it's Magic Time: you can manifest what is best for you with ease. Put yourself outdoors, or indoors next to a window. Observe the moon, and rejoice in her clear light. Bring into your heart the things (objects, ideas, situations) that would bring you the most joy. After you've breathed into the joy for a while (you know what works for you), release it upwards towards the moon. This, or something better, will manifest for you!
with love,
Duffi
A private message: To the person who is communicating with me on the etheric: you are most welcome to continue. Try, also, communicating on the physical (email, letter, phone, in person); it will be easier on you and you will get more specific support.
